Hale H. Coop

Chief Warrant Office 3 (retired), Hale H. Coop, 92, departed this world, Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 in Batesville. He was born April 19, 1918 in Batesville the son of William Clede Coop and Flossie Leonard Coop. He was a retired Administrative Supply Technician, (AST) with the Arkansas National Guard. Hale joined the Guard in 1937, was activated into the Army in 1941, and following his discharge from the Army after WWII, he was hired to reorganize the Batesville National Guard Company as the AST and remained with the Guard until his retirement in 1978. He served as a role model and mentor to those wishing to succeed in the Guard and as a fire breathing disciplinarian to those lacking proper motivation. He was a life changer and a life saver. Hale served as a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church where he and Pidge attended regularly throughout their lives. He was a lifelong golfer and introduced many people in the Batesville area to the game through the lessons he provided. He was a Christian, patriot, soldier, loving husband, Dad and Pacho. He is survived by son, Dennis Hale Coop and wife, Martha, of Sherwood; daughter, Myra Elaine Coop Kendall and husband, Mike, of Batesville; son, William Steven Coop and wife, Jolene, of Little Rock; double nephews, Lindy Harold Coop of San Braufels, Texas and David Dare Coop of Sherwood; grandchildren; Mary Kathryn Williams and husband, Trey, of Alexander, Ark., Jessica Myra Jensen and husband, Chris, of Alexander, Tara Creighton of Batesville, Haley Bunch and husband, Josh, of Phoenix, Ariz., Timothy Coop and wife, Melinda, of Liberty City, Texas, Luke Coop and wife, Deborah, of North Little Rock, Christianne Hall and husband, Byron, of North Little Rock, Dr. Brian Kendall and wife, Stephanie, of Fayetteville, and Karan Pierce and husband, Jeff, of Rosebud, Ark.; and great-grandchildren, Chelsea Rose Jensen, Sydney and Will Creighton, Andrew and Emily Coop, Mary Grace Coop, and Benjamin, Carlyanne, Cole Hall and Preston Kendall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mildred "Pidge" Talley Coop; parents; brothers, Nelse, Johnny, Dare, Fair and Harold Coop; and sisters, Daisy and Jewel Coop. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville. Honorary pallbearers are the officers and men of L/3/153-B/2/153 Arkansas National Guard 1937–1978. Burial with military honors will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
