Kenneth Ward Beiriger

Kenneth Ward Beiriger, 82, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Sept. 27, 2010, due to complications from heart surgery. He was born in Hammond, Ind., on April 10, 1928. He graduated from Hammond High School, served in the Army from Sept. 1946 until December 1947 and received a Bachelor's degree from Wabash College in Indiana. Ken married Connie Webster in 1950 and they raised four children while living in Hammond, Ind., Massapequa, N.Y., and Prairie Village, Kan. He was employed by Lever Brothers and Beatrice Foods prior to starting a home remodeling business. He was widowed in 1971. He married Bettyanne Condon in 1980 and they raised one child while living in Lee's Summit, Mo., until retiring to Bella Vista/Rogers, Ark. He was again widowed in 2009. Ken supported civil liberties organizations and enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, golfing, model trains, genealogy, as well as, using his computer to assist the clubs in which he belonged. He loved to cook/bake for his friends/family and was the consummate host. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Mildred (Hathaway) Beiriger; his first wife, Connie; and his second wife, Bettyanne. Ken is survived by his sister, Marilyn Glucksman of Hobart, Ind.; son, Mike Beiriger of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Jill Bell of Olathe, Kan., Jaan McGough of Olathe, Kan., Betsy (Jack) Dannull of Blue Springs, Mo., and Christina Oakley of Camdenton, Mo.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Although saddened by his death, his family is comforted knowing that he was loved by so many.
