Neva Dell Parker, 78, of Jacksonville went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, October 2, 2010 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease that she fought bravely and without complaint. She was born August 6, 1932 in Eastland, Texas. Neva was of the Nazarene faith and a long-time member of the LRAFB Chapel. In her time in Jacksonville since 1972, she volunteered at the chapel and for the Red Cross. For about 10 years, she sang with a group of ladies from the base called ‘The Skylarks." Neva had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone any way she was able, but mostly by praying for them – whether they knew it or not. Everyone who knew her loved her. When her husband came down with cancer, she single-handedly cared for him – never complaining. A perfect example of keeping her vows of "til death do us part." Now, she rejoins him in Heaven. Neva is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Vernon C. Parker, by her parents Elmer, and Clara Ward, and by a baby brother, Winston Ward. Neva is survived by three sisters whom she loved deeply – Eldah Ruth Fox, and husband Junior of Corpus Christi, Texas, Imagene York and husband, Howard of Baird, Texas, and Maxine Davis and husband, Wayne, of Abilene, Texas. She is also survived by nephews and nieces whom she loved as if they were her own children, Jimmy Fox, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sherry and Gary Lyle of Merkel, Texas, Johnnie Ruth Bradshaw of Abilene, Texas, Donna June Boone of Corpus Christi, Texas, John and Debbie Fox of Magnolia, Texas, Tommy and Emma Fox of Beeville, Texas, Joe and Carmen Fox of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jesse and Cecelia Fox of Houston, Texas, Rod and Vonnie York of Cisco, Texas, Chris and Johnny Conger of Cisco, Texas, Steve Davis of Abilene, Texas, David and Jan Davis of Abilene, Texas, Phillip and Rhonda Davis of Cleburne, Texas, Sammy and Karen Davis of Clute, Texas, Andy and Cristi Davis of Abilene, Texas, and Michael and Kathy Davis of Mobile, Alabama. Survivors also include scores of great, and great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, Kathy Saffle of Beebe (a lady she considered "the daughter she never had"), and Kathy's son Jonathan Mallonee, daughter-in-law, Lacey Mallonee and grandson, Joshua Mallone, of Denmark, Arkansas, all of who she treated as her grandchildren and great-grandson. Other survivors include many, many friends, neighbors and brothers and sisters in Christ – all of who will miss her deeply. The family wishes to thank Neva's friends across the country who have known and loved her all these many years. Neva was blessed to have had so many good friends. The family also wishes to thank the caregivers at Oakdale Nursing Center in Judsonia for helping to care for her the last eight months. And a special thank you to Dr. McAfee and the staff at White County Medical Center for her care the last few days of her life.
