Betty Jo Ellen Buchanan

Betty Jo Ellen Buchanan, 79, of Cabot, Arkansas peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord on Monday, October 4, 2010 with her family at her side. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on September 21, 1931. She is preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Zeffie A. Hirrill, three sisters and one brother. Betty Jo retired from the Arkansas State Hospital as an LPTN in 1993 and enjoyed a full retirement being her "usual lazy self". She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cabot. She spent the last four years fighting congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's. For the past two years, she was taken care of by a wonderful staff at Fox Ridge Estates in Bryant and the Arkansas Hospice Program. The family wishes to thank all of the personnel at Fox Ridge Estates and Arkansas Hospice, who provided love, care and friendship to our mother during this time. Words cannot express our gratitude. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon E. (Taylor) Coates and her husband Tommy; a son, Louis Randall Cone and his wife Aleta and a daughter, Karon L. (Cone) Maddux. She also leaves behind her sister, Barbara Pifer of Little Rock and her brother, George Edward Hirrill of Greenbriar. She was Nanny to six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Ben Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
