Carolyn "Rose" Fern Jackson, of Thousand Oaks, California, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, the 24th day of September, 2010. As Mrs. Jackson wished, she spent her last days at home with her family when she took her last breath on earth and her first breath in Heaven. She was born on February 8, 1940 in Hazen, Arkansas, the daughter of Ernest & Maudie Ingle. Carolyn graduated from Hazen High School in 1957. After her graduation, she moved to California, to seek employment and join her sisters. On August 6, 1960, she married Kenneth Ray Jackson, at Foursquare Baptist Church, in Torrance, California. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 28, 1986; her parents; her brother, George Franklin Ingle and her sister, Hazel Ingle Newton. Carolyn was a believer in Christ, an optimist and active in her community of 42 years. She loved ballroom dancing, the theater and arts, and was a founding member of the Thousand Oaks' Civic Arts Plaza. She enjoyed picnics on the beaches of Santa Barbara, time in her rose garden, and traveling the world. Her weekly activities included having dinner out before going to the movies or theater and Sunday brunch after attending worship at Calvary Community Church. Her most precious moments were spending time with her four grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her loving companion of eight years, Albert Hill, of Camarillo, Calif. Her son, Brian Jackson, and his wife, Lorraine, of Hot Springs, Ark. Her daughter, Sherry Kerris, and her husband, Jon, of Westlake Village, Calif. Her grandchildren, Danny, Brittany & Tommy Jackson of Hot Springs, Ark., and Justin Kerris, of Westlake Village, Calif. Her sisters: Faye Spicer, of Fayetteville, N.C.; Pearl Kelly, of Hazen, Ark.; Joyce Sok, of Downey, Calif.; and Dorothy Mertsoc, of Encinitas, Calif. Her brothers: Bobby Ingle and Ernest Ingle, and his wife, Ray, all of Hazen, Ark. Her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Douglas and Beverley Jackson, of Indian Wells, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn was a very giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who knew her best by her favorite color Pink. She was always beautiful and had a wonderful smile. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 9th, 11 a.m., at Faith Baptist Church, with Pastor Freddie Holmes officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Faith Baptist Church, 109 Tanglewood Dr., North Little Rock, 72118.
