John Howard Larkan

John Howard Larkan, age 81, died Saturday morning, October 2, 2010. He was born on January 9, 1929, in Hazen, Ark. to Ed & RosaDee Larkan. He was educated in Carlisle, Ark. and had lived in the Little Rock area since 1949, until 2 years ago, when he moved to Lewisville, Texas. (Don't know which church to put him as member.) Was an ordained deacon. He opened his business, as J. Albert Steel in 1965 and closed his business in 1996 in order to retire. He is survived by sons, Larry Larkan and David Larkan and his wife, Lee Ann, all of Little Rock; daughters, Rhonda Spencer of Lewisville, Texas, and Melissa Fults and her husband, Gary of East End; sister, Jeri Long of Heber Springs; grandchildren, Bill Rawlings of Springfield, Missouri; Jennifer Bennett of Panama City, Florida; Brian Fults of Little Rock; Rachel Doramus of Bryant; Kyle Spencer of Lewisville, Texas Matt Larkan of Bryant; Gray Larkan of Maumelle; great-grandchildren, Hailie Huff and Madden Bennett of Panama City, Florida; Mykalyne Fults of Little Rock. He and his wife were youth directors for Meadowcliff Baptist Church. The Larkan home always had an open door for many of their children's friends throughout the years which created a very large extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Larkan. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Carlisle High School in the cafeteria. Memorials may be made to Out of the Woods Rescue, ootwrescue.org.
