Lena Mae Carr

Mrs. Lena Mae Carr, 72 died October 3, 2010 at 12:15 p.m. with her family by her side in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born August 11, 1938 in Lonoke to the late Harman, Sr. and Marguree Rhodes-Cole. She attended school at George Washington Carver in Lonoke. At an early age, she was baptized at the Bailey Chapel Baptist Church and later united with St. John Baptist in Lonoke. She was united in marriage to the late Fred Jones, Jr. To this union was born seven children, two of which preceded her in death, Lewis Arthur Jones and Wayne Earl Jones. In 1974, she met and married Richard Carr of Lonoke and they were married for 35 years. Lena was an active member of her church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, missionary society worker, Mother Board member and also Mother of the Church. She was a domestic housekeeper for a number of years, until her health failed her. Lena was a charitable person and helped many people. She was loved and respected by her family, friends, community and various church families. Her interests included family, sewing and cooking. She is survived by five children; William Jones, Jr. of North Little Rock, Barbara Gaines and Freddie Jones of Lonoke, Patricia Brasfield and Stanley Jones of Little Rock, five brothers, Harman (Willie Jean) Cole, Jr., Odis Cole and Kenneth Cole, all of Lonoke, Therophis (Janice) Cole of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Charles (Patsy) Cole of Jacksonville, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded her in death, Archie Lee Cole and Roy Cole. Family hour will be Friday, October 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, 207 East 2nd St in Lonoke. Funeral Services will be at St. John Baptist Church in Lonoke, Saturday, October 9 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Online guest book, www.boydfuneralhome.net.
