Elizabeth Ann Strauss Reed, 84, of Hot Springs, passed away Saturday October 9, 2010. She was born to the late Frank and Ruby Strauss on September 17, 1926 in Mena, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; John Edward Reed. She is survived by her sister Doris Johnson of Atlanta, Texas, her daughter Peggy Tucker (Tom) of Little Rock, her son John Reed Jr. of Harlingen, Texas, her daughter Cathy Slaton (Don) of Hot Springs as well as her cousins Mary Alice Head and Marsha Watts both of Mena. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin Tucker of Little Rock, Katherine Colgan of Maumelle, Peter Tucker of Little Rock, Meagan Pittman and Candice Wutzke both of East Bethel, Minnesota, Chris Slaton, Ray Slaton and Art Slaton all of Hot Springs. She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren; Minah, Isaac, Oonah, John Lucas, Shem and Phinn Tucker all of Little Rock and Madeline Slaton of Hot Springs. Elizabeth was the valedictorian of Mena High School in 1944, she graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 1948 with a bachelor degree in Business Administration, and she married John Edward Reed on December 19, 1948. As a result of John's long military career the two of them lived in Arkansas, Germany, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, North Carolina and Alaska. She was a member of; Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Order of Eastern Star, University of Arkansas Alumni Association, Arkansas Genealogical Society, Polk County Genealogical Society, and the Lawrence County Tennessee Genealogical Society. She enjoyed watching Duke Basketball games, as well as watching her grandchildren's activities. When she was unable to attend PHUMC she watched the services through the TV ministry. A service will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock. The family will receive guests following the service in the parlor. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas.
