Rayvon Sealy

Rayvon Sealy, 80, of Friendship, passed away October 10, 2010. Rayvon was born in Friendship, Ark. to Albert W. and Laura (Dee) Sealy. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, Garland, Gwen, and Don, his sister Lucille and Lavada, and his son Tony. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Ida Mae (Beason) Sealy, his daughters and their families: Karen and Jorge Garcia of Hot Springs, Rhonda and David Thigpen of Arkadelphia, his brother Adron Sealy and sister-in-law, Lavern of Malvern, sister Maxine Auld and brother-in-law, Guy of Hope, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rayvon was a member of the U.S. Steelworkers union and retired from Reynolds Metal Company. He served in the United States Air force and Air Force Reserve and was a Korean War Veteran. Rayvon was an avid sportsman and served many years as president of the Friendship Hunting Club. He was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Rayvon was a great friend to everyone and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be: Ken and Nick Matthews, Zane Thigpen, Robert Sealy, Wayne Sealy, Carl Sealy, and Woody and Randy Gaither. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Friendship Hunting Club, Mark Strother, Jim and Lucille McMahan, who have been life long friends since the double wedding ceremony in 1950 with Rayvon and Ida Mae. Visitation will be Tuesday 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist church. Services will be at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Friendship, Wednesday, October 13th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Hollis McDermott officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Gilchrist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
