Vernon Alvin Anderson

Vernon Alvin Anderson, 90, formerly of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died October 10, 2010, at Andersonville, Tennessee, where he had lived since March 2010. Born July 30, 1920, near Story City, Iowa, he was the younger son of John L. and Florence Sowers Anderson. He was a World War II veteran, seeing overseas service in North Africa and Italy and later completed studies at the William Braid White School of Pianoforte Technology in Chicago, Illinois. After moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1951, he worked as a piano technician for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a founding member of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and a member of the chancel choir. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marilyn M. Anderson, his children, Marita (William R.) Pratt of LaFollette, Tennessee, Lyndall (Loren) Soden of Englishtown, New Jersey, and Mark S. (Linda) Anderson of Cimarron, New Mexico, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, 695 Calvin Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703 or a favorite charity.
