John G. Fleming, 92, of Alexander, Ark., went to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. He was born on Nov. 10, 1917, in Benton to the late Otto and Lydia Boreckey Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a deacon at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, had retired as a pipefitter from Alcoa and served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marion Fleming; brothers, Victor, Bernie, Russell, Fredrick, Buster, Charlie and Clyde; sisters, Lydia Wilbanks, Ruth Beaty and Rose Marie Tudor; and grandsons, Paul Farmer and Jerry Allen Dobbins. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Scott Fleming of Alexander; two sons, John George Jr. and wife, Linda of Hot Springs and Gary Fleming of Benton; three daughters, Leslie Farmer and husband, James of Lolita, Texas, Janet and husband, Butch Fooks of Plainview, Ark., and Susan Brown and husband, Ron of Alexander; one sister, Mildred Prewitt of Benton; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Alexander. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Oct. 17, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, 315-4047.
