Fandy E. Hammett, 87, of Little Rock, won his battle over a long illness and went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 21, 2010. He was born on November 17, 1922, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the son of the late Frank and Esther Brents Hammett. He was employed by Montgomery Wards for 35 years in appliance sales, and he was an ordained minister. He was a member of Wellington Village Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David "Butch" Poché, a daughter, Karen Sue Hammett, three sisters, Betty Hammett, Lillian Hammett and Lorene Dunsworth. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Emma Nell Payne Hammett; two sons, Jerry Hammett of Solgohachia, Arkansas, and Gary Hammett and his wife, Hazel, of Forsyth, Missouri; one daughter, Phyllis Poché of Little Rock, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and extended family. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501) 224-8300. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2010 at the funeral home, with Reverend Donald Shipley officiating.
