Louis A. Butler

Louis A. Butler, 92, of Sparkman, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at the Ouachita Medical Center in Camden. He was born in Sparkman, Ark. on Jan. 27, 1918 to the late James H. and Mattie Ila Shaddock Butler. He was a retired truck driver and a Methodist. Mr. Butler honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and a bronze star. He is survived by his son, Mike Butler of San Bernardino, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Butler Orlofsky of Greeley, Colo., Cheryl Lynn Butler Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, James L. Butler of Sparkman, Ark.; two sisters, Mary L. Langley of Sparkman, Ark., Jessie Ruth Morris of Sparkman, Ark.; five grandchildren, Sandy Butler of San Bernardino, Calif., Stephanie Vallejo of Greely, Colo., Jeff Butler of Greely, Colo., Michelle Peartree of Bethlehem, Pa., Caitlin Walters of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Pate Butler, and two sisters, Louise Lewis and Martha Corine Butler. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at the Sardis Cemetery, with the Rev. Max Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
