WANDA JEANETTE HERNDON WILMOTH was born March 19, 1927, in Houston, Ark. (Perry County). She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack B. Herndon and Mae Harris Herndon, and a brother, Leon Herndon, all of Lepanto, Ark. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, E. Joe Wilmoth; their two children and their spouses, Joe D. and Zelda WIlmoth and Judy and Bob Bohannon; and one sister, Patricia Jester Jones. Mrs. Wilmoth leaves five grandchildren and their spouses and six great-grandchildren. Grandsons and spouses are Joshua and Kristina Wilmoth, Michael B. and Carrie Crews, and Matthew Wilmoth and Alyssa Campbell-Wilmoth. Her granddaughters and their spouses are Melodee and Carl Owens Jr., and Kristyn and Michael Sartin. The great-grandchildren are Jamie and Allana WIlmoth, Beau Emery and Lauren Crews, and Kylie and Ty Sartin. Mrs. Wilmoth taught in the Lepanto schools after attending Arkansas State University and later received her degree in elementary education from Little Rock University. She left her teaching career to partner with her husband as he pastored mission churches, led the state youth program, and served as superintendent of the Arkansas Assemblies of God. In every ministry setting, she was a source of faith, strength, and love. As a pastor's wife in Lepanto, Osceola, Forrest City, Jonesboro, and Magnolia, she served in positions such as church pianist, Bible quiz coach, and Women's Ministries leader. As a faithful and gifted Sunday school teacher, she profoundly impacted the lives of teens and college students who went on to fill ministry positions around the world. Although her most cherished calling was as a godly wife and mother, she regularly opened her home to provide food, fellowship, and a mother's love to college students away from home. As a woman of compassion and integrity, she was a role model for younger women wherever she lived. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Hillcrest Children's Home or the missions program of North Little Rock First Assembly. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the First Assembly of God, 4501 Burrow, North Little Rock, with burial following at Rest Hills Memorial Park on Landers Road in North Little Rock.
