Ruby Stiles Hedges

Ruby Stiles Hedges, age 82, of Malvern, Arkansas died on October 25, 2010, at her home in the Oak Grove community after succumbing to cancer. She was born in Malvern on April 21, 1928 to the late Walter T. and Lucy Mae Matthews Guin. She was reared in Malvern and received her education in the Central schools. She was married to Dewitt Stiles from April, 1945 until his death in October 1956. In 1964 she married Stephen D. Hedges and they were together until he was killed in a tractor accident in July 2009. Ruby owned and operated Stephanie's Beauty Shop in Malvern from 1965 to 1995. After retiring she kept busy working in her yard and garden, cooking and taking care of her dogs. She could not abide idleness and wanted to be up and busy at all times. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Brad Guin and Woodford "Slats" Guin, and her sisters, Lucille Gregory and Irene Aldridge. She is survived by a daughter, Dianna Cothren Busher and husband Chuck of Shreveport, Louisiana, and her son, Judge Dail Stiles and wife Nancy of Little Rock; three granddaughters, Kellie Rodgers (Chase) of Dallas, Texas, Kimberly Durand (Jonathan) of Ashdown, Arkansas and Erin Stiles Hunter of Little Rock, Arkansas; and by four great-grandsons, Jay and Wyatt Durand and Connor and Riley Hunter. A special thanks to Vickie and Tom Hedges of Malvern for their devotion and dedicated care of Ruby after her husband Steve died, and during her final illness. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday morning, October 27, 2010 at Shadowlawn Cemetery with Brother Donis Smead officiating. The family will receive friends at J.A. Funk Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m., Tuesday evening, October 26. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution be made to the Malvern Animal Shelter 2625 Canine Road Malvern, Arkansas, or to your favorite charity.
