Thomas Norman O'Donell

Thomas Norman O'Donell, 76, of Morrilton, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. Tommy was born at Griffithville, Ark., October 7, 1934, to Charles and Marion Gaines O'Donell. He was a graduate of Griffithville High School, the University of Arkansas (Phi Kappa Alpha), and the Arkansas School of Pharmacy. He began his pharmacy career in 1958 at Lyons Drugstore, Lonoke, Arkansas. He served in the 916th Surgical Unit, U.S. Army Reserves, as an SPC5 on call-up duty in South Carolina in 1961-62. In 1965 he opened O'Donell's Pharmacy in Morrilton, which he operated until his retirement in1999. Tommy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Morrilton, a 32nd Degree Mason, past president of the Morrilton Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Conway Country Club, and the Fish Lake Club. He was past president of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association, served on the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy and on the Board of Admissions for the University of Arkansas College of Pharmacy. Tommy was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother. Marion, of Searcy, Arkansas; his children, Karen O'Donell, Longmont, Colorado; Pam Hairston (Chip), Little Rock, Arkansas; Bart Coates O'Donell, Little Rock, Arkansas; his grandson, Will Hairston; his brother Jim O'Donell (Brenda), Cocoa Beach, Florida, and extended family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2010, at First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, October 28, at Tommy's home.
