Joe Ray Hedden of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 24, 1920 in Grapevine, Arkansas, the son of the late John S. and Sarah Jane Ramick Hedden. He was one of the oldest members of First Landmark Baptist Church of Sheridan, was a United States Navy Veteran having served in World War II, and was retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal, where he was a fireman and later a security guard. Mr. Joe was probably best known for owning and operating Joe Hedden Used Cars in Sheridan for many years. He was a giving man with a servant's heart who touched many lives with his generosity and gentle spirit. Mr. Hedden died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 90. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marshie Jane Blackerby Hedden, who died April 4, 2004, a great-granddaughter, Anna Stanton, brothers, Carl, Lloyd, Elvis, and Boyd Hedden; sisters, Ollie Fielding, Ella Poss and Ruby Smith. Survivors: son, Larry Hedden and wife Sue; daughters, Martha Rae Keedy; Betty Jo Horton and husband Wallace all of Sheridan; Grandchildren, Kent Keedy (Luann), Keith Keedy, Pam Gilbert (Michael), Joel Stanton (Lindsey), John Hedden (Kim), Kelli Rappold (David), Gray Davis, Gwin Cunningham (Cotten); 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2010 at First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Doney Blackerby and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Hedden Chapel Cemetery in Grapevine. Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
