Maxine Marshall Zimmerman

Maxine Marshall Zimmerman of Little Rock, Arkansas Maxine Luella Marshall Zimmerman, a life-long resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Tuesday, 26th of October 2010. Born in Little Rock, October 8, 1925, to Maurice and Bess Marshall, Maxine was the youngest of four girls and was a loving and devoted daughter. She grew up at 1821 Booker Street and attended Asbury Methodist in Little Rock. She went to Robert E. Lee and Centennial Elementary Schools, West Side Junior High School and graduated from Little Rock Senior (now Central) High School. Maxine's undergraduate work was completed at Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, where she met and married Frank Charles Zimmerman in 1947. They both earned Master Degrees from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. Maxine and Frank both taught school until Elizabeth Anne was born when Maxine quit teaching to become a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; three sisters, Elizabeth (who died at birth in New Orleans), Lillian Marshall Moore of Harrison, Arkansas and Judith Marshall Stroope of Louisiana. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Anne and husband Andy Turner and their daughter Mary Julia of North Little Rock; Frank Charles Jr. and wife Laura and their daughter Lauren of Hope, Judith Marshall and husband, Jared Thompson and their sons, Marshall, Charles and Zack of Cabot, and son, Robert Ryan and wife Debra of Benton. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, Jerry and Gail Moore of Hartford, Connecticut, Sandy and Judy Stroope of Harrison, and Jeff Stroope of Harrison. Maxine loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of various Methodist Churches including Asbury Methodist, Pulaski Heights United Methodist and First United Methodist Church of Little Rock. She will always be remembered as the kindest, most gentle person and a true southern lady. Her most gracious hospitality is truly missed by everyone who knew her throughout her 85 years of life. Memorial services Friday, October 29, 2010, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, Little Rock, Ark. Eighth and Center Streets.
