Walter Williams

Walter B. Williams, 71, of White Hall, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born July 16, 1939, in Lake Village, to Lee Harvey and the late Cavie Lorene Webb Williams. He was reared and received his education in Smackover. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Williams married JoAnne Morgan on July 10, 1962, in Arcadia, Louisiana. He worked for AT&T for over 30 years before retiring from there in 2001. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Jacob Brump Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 48 years, JoAnne Williams of White Hall; his father, Lee Harvey Williams of Smackover; two daughters, Dr. Lisa G. Williams of Nashville, Tennessee and Lee Anne Griffith of Peachtree City, Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Bryant of Haughton, Louisiana and Frances Bryant of Holly Grove, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Cole Griffith, Bret Griffith, and Nick Griffith; and his cousin, Ed and Louise LaGrone of White Hall, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 28, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Robinson's. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 29, 2010, 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Allen Elkins officiating.
