Warner Harris Vining

Warner Harris Vining, age 93, of Monticello departed this life to be with God, Thursday, October 28, 2010, at The Woods Nursing Home in Monticello. He was born March 8, 1917, in Drew County, AR, to the late Fred Vining and Irene Loveless Vining. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Brantley Vining and his daughter, Kathy Vining. He was a retired mechanic and Chevrolet shop foreman, World War II Combat Veteran, having served in New Guinea and the Philippines, member of the V.F.W. and American Legion and was a longtime and active member of the Second Baptist Church. His lifelong hobby, for over 80 years, was playing the fiddle at dances and functions throughout South Arkansas. Survivors include two sons, Robert Vining and wife, Judith of Garfield, Ark. and Chuck Vining of Monticello; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday at the Second Baptist Church in Monticello by Rev. Jimmy Albrecht. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in Drew County by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
