Faye Trevathan McMurry, 91, of Hot Springs Village, Ark. died Oct. 28, 2010. She was born July 26, 1919, in Staunton, Va., to Edward Shiflett and Verona Rohr Shiflett and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Dunsmore Business College, Staunton, Va. Upon later moving to Washington, DC, she was employed by the Department of Justice under the Attorney General's office. Faye was a member of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Pleasant Chapter No. 34, Washington, DC. She later moved to Little Rock, where she was employed by the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board, taught kindergarten Sunday school for 10 years at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and was a member of the Creative Garden Club in the Briarwood area. Faye later moved to Tucson, Ariz., where she served two terms as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideons, Central Camp and was active in Emmanuel Baptist Church. Faye later returned to Little Rock, where she, along with her husband, joined Olivet Baptist Church. She has been a volunteer conducting Bible study at the Pulaski County jail and played the piano for the Sunday bible study at Williamsburg Nursing Home. She is currently a member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church, Hot Springs Village. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. McMurry; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Martha Anne Carter; grandson and wife, John and Christie Carter; grandson, Thomas L. Carter; daughter, Diane Faust; granddaughter and husband, Ashley and Christopher Johnston; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney and Jennifer Carter and Grayson Johnston. Faye is also survived by sisters, Jean Lindell of Wilmington, Del. and Ann Morey of Frederick, Md.; and one brother, Gerald A. Shiflett of Goodview, Va. A memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at Barcelona Road Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Swihart officiating.
