Billy David Rough was born on March 24, 1928 in Fordyce, Arkansas and went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2011 in Conroe, Texas just 4 days short of his 83rd birthday. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Blanche Rough, brothers Lavane and Chester Rough Jr. and his loving wife Eileen Hayes Rough. Affectionately known to his family as "Poppa," Bill is survived by his daughter, Susan Rough Beavers; grandson, Billy Beavers and wife Sarah; granddaughter, Wendie Bauer and husband Jason; and great grandchildren, Brandi Beavers, Tommy Beavers and Dillon Bauer. Bill also leaves a very special lady from his life Ms. Lois Leitko, whom he cared for greatly in the last months of his life. Bill was a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Monticello where he was an accomplished athlete in both baseball and football. After college, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy in both World War II and Korea. He worked for many years in sales for the Singer Sewing Machine Company and the National Brewing Company. He was an expert wood carver who specialized in custom gun stocks and knives. He was a sport shooter, hunter and collector of firearms. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday March 23, 2011 at Eickenhorst Funeral Services, 1712 N. Frazier, Suite 115 Conroe, Texas 77301. Bill will be transported to his final resting place to be buried with his wife Eileen in the Little Rock National Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
