Freddie Joatrice Day passed away peacefully on March 24, 2011, surrounded by her son Edwin and several friends. She was born in Little Rock on October 20, 1929. Freddie was a quiet lady who was very talented in cooking and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Day; parents, Fredrick and Beatrice York; sisters, Patricia Holt and Guthrie John; and her brother, Frederick York Jr. Freddie is survived by her son, Edwin P. Day of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Laurine Day of Irving, Texas; grandson, Matthew Day of Irving, Texas; sisters, Rachel Osborn of Compton, California, Nancy Henderson of Los Angeles, California, and Mary Nolan of Jacksonville, Florida; her step-daughter and husband, Joann and Gene Henton of Blytheville, Arkansas; and her step-grandson, Kevin Henton of Dallas, Texas, as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at the National Cemetery in Little Rock on Friday, April 1, 2011, at 1 p.m.
