SHEILA LOUISE TOLBERT-LASSUS, 50, of Little Rock-a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was born Nov. 28, 1960, to Rosetta Howard Tolbert and the late Ermon Tolbert Sr. She graduated with the class of 1979 from Little Rock Central High School, earned an associate of science degree in general studies from Pulaski Technical College, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in health education with an emphasis in community health promotion from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and at the time of her demise, was in pursuit of a master's degree in health administration at Webster University. Sheila was a Staff Sergeant (Ret.) with the Arkansas Army National Guard and employed by the Centers for Youth and Families and the Little Rock School District. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, the Society of Health Educators, NAEYCE (Child Development), American Cancer Society, and the National Guard Association. Sheila departed this life on Friday, April 22, 2011. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Marion A. Birts Jr.; a sister, Blondell Tolbert; and a sister-in-law, Marquessia Tolbert. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Nikita Murdock and Diara Lassus; mother, Rosetta Tolbert; brothers, William Howard (Bobbie) of Fountain Valley, Calif., James Tolbert Sr., Ermon Tolbert II (Tova), and Emmanuel Tolbert; sisters, Irma Tolbert, Juanita Houston (John) of Austin, Patricia Tolbert, Wilma Tolbert-Smith (Jack), Rosemary Tolbert, and Angelia Tolbert-Cox (Earnest); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 2, at St. Mark Baptist Church, 5722 West. 12th Street, Little Rock, with visitation before the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Services entrusted to Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, 2405 South Gaines Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72206. Open visitation and signing the family register book will be from 1:30-4 p.m., today at the funeral home, (501) 376-7188.
