Lamar R. Watson

Lamar R. Watson, 91 of Camden, died Monday, May 2, 2011. He was born September 19, 1919 in Chambersville, Arkansas to the late Bill A. and Zula Thomason Watson. He was a retired civil engineer and an Army World War II veteran where he earned the Purple Heart. He was a longtime member and deacon of Hopeville Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Watson and his brothers Kenneth and Norman Watson. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Watson of Camden; two sons, Dwight Watson and wife Sandy of Hopeville and Thomas Watson and wife Joyce of Lufkin, Texas; one daughter, Kathie Buckley of Fordyce; one step-son, Donald R. Harris of Camden; one sister, Billie Jean Waddle of Little Rock; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Hopeville Assembly of God Church with Rev.
