Dr. Marian Virginia Christy, Ed.D., age 79, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at her daughters residence in Fairmount, Ind. She was a life long educator at the University of St. Francis where she was head of the Special Education Department for over 30 years. She had also worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy. She was the daughter of the late Emmet Faircloth and the late Mildred Virginia (McKennon) Faircloth. She was born in Key West, Florida on July 15, 1931. She received her education from Florida State, St. Francis University in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. She had a love of learning and was an avid reader. She loved to travel and donated hats she croched to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Survivors: three daughters: Elizabeth Christy, Fort Wayne, Ind., M. Virginia (Williard) Haunfelder, Valparaiso, Ind., Theresa (William) Bilger, Fairmount, Ind.; one son: Kevin (Cindy) Christy, Noblesville, Ind.; four grandchildren; Amelia T. Windom, Sean M. Christy, Mary Caitlin Christy, Willard X. Haunfelder. Arrangements are being handled by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Ind. A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
