Hurschel Earl Clements, 90, of Austin went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. He was born March 8, 1921 to Manley Edward and Sally Clements in Van Buren. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Billie Jean Horn Clements, his parents and his brothers, Wilburn Clements and Ross Clements. Hurschel spent his 60 year career as a union master electrician and was a former mayor of Austin. He was a faithful member of the Cabot First Baptist Church since 1963, serving as a Sunday School teacher and as usher. He was a member of the IBEW Local 295. He served his country during WWII as a Navy Seabee and was stationed on New Caledonia in the South Pacific. Mr. Clements was a loving, caring Christian father and grandfather. Hurschel loved to fish, camp and travel the United States with Billie in their RV. He will be remembered for these things as well as his silly songs, prolific gardens and his ability to fix just about anything. Survivors include his children, Shirley and Ken Sudduth of Austin, Debbie and Don LeMay of Cabot and Gary and Ann Clements of North Little Rock; his sisters, Gladys Pictorius, Rena Jones and Jean (Charles) Womack; sister-in-law Monteen Clements; grandchildren, John (Tina) Majors, Danny (Missy) Majors, Clint (Melissa) LeMay, Jaime (Ryan) Miller, Jeremy (Sarah) Clements, and Austin Clements, step-grandchildren, Susan May, Kathy Edwards, Steven Sudduth and John Sudduth, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Cabot; 204 North 3rd Street; Cabot, Arkansas 72023. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816. Burial will follow at Old Austin Cemetery.
