B. J. Shuffield, age 72, of Little Rock, Arkansas formerly of Wilmington, Calif. and Alexander, Ark., went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2011 after losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Bismarck, Arkansas on December 13, 1938 to his late parents Edgar and Eula Shuffield. B. J. served in the United States Army, retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and attended New Life Baptist Church of Alexander, Ark. Survivors include his wife Jacque Canter Shuffield of Little Rock, three daughters, Dr. Chrysti Williams (Tony) of Benton, Jeanie Creech (Scott) of Pineville, Mo. and Lindsey Christenberry of Benton, his former wife, Wilma Thomas of Benton; two granddaughters, Tyler and Sarah Williams both of Benton, two sisters, Janet Kaveney of Arizona and Mary Ceola McCuestion of Oregon, 21 nieces and nephews and many friends and loves ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harold, Marvin and Ray and three sisters, Clydene McClure, Gussie Thieman and Hazel Dalrymple. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, AR (501) 455-1067 with Dr. Sid Sample officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. A visitation will be on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
