Rachel W. Peacock

Rachel W. Peacock, age 87, widow of Chester L. (Roy) Peacock died early Sunday morning, May 8, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Ark. A long-time resident of Vidalia, La., Mrs. Peacock had lived in Dermott, Ark. since 2008. Besides her husband, Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by her parents Harry W. Wafer Sr. and Josephine Chase Wafer, and four sisters. Survivors are son; Corry B. (Marilyn) Peacock of Alvin, Texas; two daughters; Jo Ellen (Terry) Johnson of Monroe, La.; and Melanie (William) Proffitt of Dermott, Ark. Additionally; she is survived by two brothers, Harry W. Wafer Jr. of Delhi, La., and William Gill Wafer of Bennettsville, S.C., and one sister, Maxie Hardin of Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Peacock has nine grandchildren: Rachel Elizabeth Peacock, John Michael Peacock, Matthew Roy Peacock, Benjamin David Peacock, Paul Kenneth Peacock, Kathy Johnson Dycus, Jesse Howard Proffitt, Joseph Charles Proffitt and Jonathan Mark Proffitt, and three great-granddaughters: Ashley and Allison Peacock and Josie Dycus. Visitation for Rachel Peacock will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Dermott Presbyterian Church with memorial service to follow immediately at the church. Graveside service will take place at 4 p.m. at Oakley Cemetery in Franklin Parish, La. near her birthplace, Gilbert, La., Dr. Troy L. Pritt, pastor of Dermott Presbyterian Church will preside. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Matt, Paul, Jesse, Joseph and Jonathan and her dear neighbor, Arthur Bailey. Memorials are requested to the Stewpot, 69 E.
