Cecil Henry Simmons

Cecil Henry Simmons, 84, of Vilonia, died May 8, 2011. He was born in Vilonia on August 24, 1926, to the late Clayton and Pearl (Reece) Simmons. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Ishmael, Nellie, Mabel and Jewel; his in-laws, Paul and Thelma (Kelley) Harlan. Cecil graduated from Vilonia High School in 1944, as Valedictorian of his class. He served in World War II and returned to graduate from Hendrix College with honors. Mr. Simmons worked as an accountant. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue (Harlan) Simmons of Vilonia; his daughter, Cheryl Ann Carson and husband, Jeff; his son, Britt Paul Simmons; granddaughter, Catherine Ann Carson, all of North Little Rock; his sister-in-law, Paulette Rodgers of Vilonia; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Carson of Sherwood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He had homes in North Little Rock and Vilonia and attended Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock for many years. Visitation will be 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the funeral home. Funeral will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. 501-327-7727.
