Paul Markham Davenport, Sr.

Paul Markham Davenport, Sr., 76, died on May 9, 2011 in Conway, Arkansas, following a lengthy illness. He was a son of the late Irene (Markham) Davenport and Paul Curtis Davenport of Carlinville, Illnois. He was reared by his grandmother, the late Josephine Markham in Conway, and was educated in the Public Schools and at the University of Central Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Cors in Frankfort, Germany. Until ill health curtailed his activities, Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and flying small aircraft. Most of his professional life was spent in the Washington, D.C., area as an adminstrator in biological research firms engaged in cancer research. He and his family have made their home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, since 1972. After a lifelong dedication to and interest in science, he donated his remains to medical research. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann (Blythe) Davenport; and a son, Paul Markham Davenport Jr., of Baton Rouge. A memorial service will be held in his native Arkansas at a later date. Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.
