Donna Marie (Hapes) Landers, 80, of North Little Rock, passed away May 10, 2011 at Hospice Home Care following a short illness though she struggled with health problems during the last few years. God honored Donna by welcoming her home. Donna was born May 22, 1930 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, the first daughter of Carl O. Hapes Sr. and Effie Marie Hapes. She was united in marriage to Bill Landers on April 8, 1948 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They enjoyed sixty three years of marriage. In earlier years, Donna worked at Saint Patrick's, Little Saint Mary's, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Schools in North Little Rock where she was an Art Teacher for many years, doing what she loved, being a mother and a teacher to all children. She was a member of Saint Edward's Catholic Church in Little Rock and a former member of Saint Patrick's Church in North Little Rock where she actively participated in many parish organizations and church groups. Donna loved her faith and her parish community, and shared a special devotion to Our Lady, Our Holy Mother, and would often be found with her rosary in hand. She opened her heart to many whose lives were touched by her compassion and generosity. Her home was filled with many who were welcomed and treated like family supporting those in need and less fortunate. Survivors include her loving husband, Bill; a sister Betty Hammer and brother "Butch" Carl. O. Hapes Jr., and devoted children, Kevin and Sue Landers, Anne Graham, Jeff and Tiger Landers, Carla and Andy Wooley, Scott and Ruth Landers, Bill Hale; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna never met a person who did not warm to her. She was devoted to taking care of her children and grandchildren; even in her days of illness, she always ensured they were provided for and knew their way home. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m., Friday, May 13th, 2011, at Saint Edward's Church, 801 Sherman St., Little Rock. Burial will be held at the Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock following the Mass. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock. There will be a Rosary prayer service at the close of the visitation and all are invited to attend.
