Joy Ann Reed Popejoy

Joy Ann Reed Popejoy, age 72, of Eudora, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at her home. She was born August 17, 1938, in Lake Village, the daughter of the late Edward Bryant Reed and Mary Elizabeth Restivo Reed. She was a businesswoman and owner/operator of Holly Ridge Grocery and a catfish farmer. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and Central Assembly of God Church in Haughton, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Popejoy Sr., by a daughter, Karen Elizabeth Popejoy, a granddaughter, Alexis Popejoy and by a sister, Betty Jean Reed. Survivors are 4 sons, James Everett Popejoy Jr. of Kilbourne, Louisiana, Mark Edward Popejoy and Michael Paul Popejoy, both of Haughton, Louisiana, and Kristopher Joel Popejoy of Eudora; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home in Lake Village. Funeral Services are 10 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Eudora Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Valentine and Rev. Bud O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
