James Daniel "Jim" Sjodin, age 65, died at his home on Sunday, January 23, 2011. He was born December 27, 1945, in Marlow, Okla., the son of Hattie Lorene Pierce and James Freeman Sjodin. He graduated from Northwestern Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1964 and studied voice and piano at Oklahoma City University and UALR. A gifted and talented lifelong professional church musician, he was pianist/choir accompanist at Highland Valley United Methodist Church and widely known for his outstanding tenor voice. Central Arkansas churches he served as choir director and organist included Lonoke First United Methodist (2006-10), St. Luke United Methodist (2004-05) and Christ the King Catholic (1991-2000), and Cantor at Temple B'Nai Israel. He is survived by 3 beloved dogs: Max, Rita and Lindy, as well as by a host of friends, former students and choir members. A graveside service will be Thursday, May 19 at 12 noon at Calvary Cemetery, 20th & Woodrow Sts., Little Rock.
