Bobbye Duffy

Mrs. Bobbye Duffy, 92, of Monroe, Louisiana, formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died in St. Francis Medical Center, May 17, 2011. Services of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff May 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. Bobbye was the last living grandchild of the late Joseph Clinton Fox and Annie Vahey Fox, a prominent pioneer family who moved from the St. Louis area to Pine Bluff in the 1800s. Bobbye was born in Pine Bluff, March 6, 1919, to Warren and Henrietta Fox Williams. She was educated at Annunciation Academy, graduated from Pine Bluff High and received her formal education at Dodd College in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1942, she married Dewey Finche Duffy who preceded her in death after 54 years of marriage. Bobbye lived a life devoted to our Lord and carried out His teachings throughout her life with tireless service to her family, church and community. She played a major role in the activities of children in the Pine Bluff area. She devoted time and energy as scout leader for both boys and girls. She organized and worked on numerous fund raising projects for children's clubs and organizations in parochial and public schools. Bobbye was a volunteer for the school system here and as a Gray Lady at Jefferson Regional Hospital. She was a lifelong member at St. Joseph Catholic Church where she taught PRE classes and served on the Altar Society and many committees for over 40 years. She had a wide group of friends, was an avid bridge player, a member of several bridge clubs, and enjoyed special occasions as a member of The Pine Bluff Country Club "Birthday Club." Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and infant son Joseph Adam Duffy, great-grandson, Robert Elliott Marett, brother Frank Williams and sisters Vivian, Ione Terry and Annetta Talbot. She is survived by three children; John David Duffy (Kathryn) of Madison, Georgia, Linda Ann Ross (Walker), Annetta Louise Hill (Cecil) of Monroe, Louisiana, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and nieces; Ann Terry Bragg, Annetta Talbot Beauchamp; nephew, Beaure Talbot. Vigil and visitation is at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18. Funeral 10 a.m., Thursday, May 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
