Dale Barber

Dale Barber, of Blytheville, Ark. passed away peacefully at his home after a brief illness on May 17, 2011, surrounded by his family. Dale was born on June 30, 1921 in Guntown, Miss., the fourth of eight children of the late Clyde and Vera Elliott Barber. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one great-granddaughter. Dale is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 67 years, Josephine Ford Barber. He is also survived by his daughters, Sandra (Delmar) Ammons of Osceola, Ark., and Carole (Tony) Peterson of Blytheville, Ark. and sons, Barry Barber of Prescott, Ark., and Doug (Freddie) Barber of Little Rock, Ark.; his sister, Alloyce Simpson of Virginia Beach, Va., and one brother and sister in law, Billy (Georgia) Barber of Pryor, Okla. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dale was the former owner of Dale Barber Furniture in Blytheville for over 30 years. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Bowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Blytheville officiating and where Dale was a long time member. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net.
