Delaine Russell

Delaine Russell, of Batesville, formerly of Russellville, passed away on May 17, 2011 in Batesville. She was born on March 6, 1945 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents Elbert and Elaine Green of Russellville; a brother, W.D. "Bill" Green; and a sister, Noma Green Dwyer. She is survived by her husband Ron Russell; a son, Shawn Russell of Morrilton, Arkansas; a daughter, Kelli Greenlee and son-in-law Doug Greenlee of Springdale, Arkansas. She leaves behind four wonderful grandchildren, Russ and Robyn Greenlee and Paige and Matt Russell. They were the joy and light of her life. She is also survived by aunts, nephews, cousins, plus a host of special friends. She was retired from the State Employment Security Department. She was a member of the Cave City United Methodist Church and a former member of First United Methodist Church in Russellville. Delaine was diagnosed with ALS "Lou Gehrig" disease on June 28, 2004. She formed an ALS support group that is still active and was given an award for her efforts by the Arkansas ALS Group. She was positive in her battle with the disease and had a strong Christian faith that was apparent to everyone with whom she came in contact. Memorials may be made to the ALS Research Department at UAMS, 4301 W. Markham Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72205, or the Cave City United Methodist Church, Hwy 115, Cave City, Ark., 72521. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Russellville. Reverend Roger Hook will be officiating. Private burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
