Hugh Laurens McMillan

Hugh Laurens McMillan was born on November 16, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Hugh and Kathleen Shelton McMillan. He went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2011. A 1958 graduate of Hall High School, he went on to serve in the Armed Forces Army Intelligence Agency. On August 12, 1967, Hugh married his sweetheart, Sharon and began studying architecture at the University of Arkansas. In 1971 he started work with Concordia in Bella Vista, eventually serving as Master Architect for Cooper Communities- assisting in the master planning for Bella Vista Village, Hot Springs Village, Cherokee Village and Telaco communities. His architectural influence can be seen throughout Northwest Arkansas. Hugh was an active Rotarian and member of First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Ark He is survived by his devoted wife Sharon; sister, Diane McMillan Wellford of Memphis, Tenn.; two children, Kim McMillan Norton and husband Patrick of Bella Vista, Ark. and Alan McMillan and wife Susie of Springfield, Mo.; four beautiful grandchildren, Rebecca, Leah, Paityn and Cole. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at Stockdale Funeral Services, 2898 W. Walnut St. Rogers, Ark. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Stockdale Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Steve Tucker officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund to support cardiac preventative education.
