WILLIAM L. MORRIS, 85, of Little Rock, more commonly known to his many friends as Bill, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. from pneumonia on Saturday, May 21, 2011, with his devoted family at his side. Bill Morris was married to his lovely wife Joy for 42 years; until she lost her hard fought battle with cancer in 1987. Bill Morris is survived by his three grown children, Sherry Morris, a nurse, Jenniffer Horan, a lawyer, and Jeffrey Morris, a silver smith. Bill also had three grandchildren: Amy Hall, Jason Hall, and Flannery Horan. Bill Morris served bravely in the military during World War II and was seriously wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium in 1944. He was the recipient of several medals, including the Purple Heart, during his time in the Army. For most of his life, Bill Morris was a neon tube-bender and sign painter. More recently, he served for over a decade as the Manager of the Pulaski County Garden Center where community members rent lots to grow summer gardens. Bill Morris never met a stranger and will be sorely missed. He will be buried with Military Honors at a graveside service on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Crittenden Memorial Park on Highway 64 in Marion, Ark. Bill will be laid to rest along side his wife Joy. Arrangements are with Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 501-224-8300.
