Bob Dew

Bob Dew, 99, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Bastrop, Louisiana. He was born January 28, 1912 in Hamburg, son of Howard and Berta Stone Dew. Mr. Dew was reared and received his early education in Wilmot, Arkansas. He attended Monticello A&M for four years before earning his degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1939. Mr. Dew served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1950. Mr. Dew worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Farmer's Home Administration as a County Supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He taught school in Crawfordsville, Arkansas for 3 years, teaching Vocational Agriculture. Mr. Dew was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was in the Matthew Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the National Association of Federal Retired Employees. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Biggs Dew, whom he married May 17, 1941 in Pine Bluff; second wife, Vivian Hay Dew; parents; four brothers, Guy Dew, Walter Dew, Twyman Dew and Van Dew; and sister, Johnnie Allison. There were no immediate survivors. A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2011 at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello with Reverend Matt Norton officiating.
