Mr. Charles Truman Black, age 60, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, in a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital. Mr. Black was born January 13, 1951, in Waldo, Arkansas. He graduated from Waldo High School in 1968, Southern Arkansas University in 1972 and the LSU Banking School. He started his banking career at the First National Bank of Magnolia and then moved to Lewisville to become President, CEO, and Director of Peoples Bank. He retired from Heartland Bank in Camden as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. He was past President, Representative, Area Council Liaison of the Boys and Girls Club of Magnolia and received an award for his outstanding public service from 1985-1987. He received the Distinguished Service Awards by the Magnolia Jaycees in 1981-1982: President of the Lewisville Rotary Club from 1994-1995: was a member of the Arkansas Bankers Association where he served as Treasurer from 1998-1999; was President of the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce in 2001; served as Commissioner on the Arkansas Red River Commission from 1999 to the present; and had served in the Arkansas National Guard. Survivors include one son, Chad Black of Hot Springs, Arkansas, his parents, D.W. and Kathryn Black of Waldo, Arkansas, one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Sammy May of Hot Springs, Arkansas, one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Shirley Black of Waldo, Arkansas, one niece, Renee Ringgold of Hot Springs, Arkansas, one nephew, Matt Barrett of Hot Springs, Arkansas, two great nephews, and one great-niece. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, 4801 Loop 245, Texarkana, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 pm until 8:30 p.m., Friday.
