Marilyn Harris

A warm, gentle Southern lady, Marilyn Harris, age 82, of Forrest City, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, in Forrest City. The daughter of William Shafter Causey and Mary Boren Causey. Mrs. Harris was born, June 2, 1928, in Gould, Arkansas. Mrs. Harris graduated from Forrest City High School. She attended college at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma and the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Mrs. Harris married the love of her life, Aubrey Lee "Sonny" Harris Jr. March 26, 1949. A busy mother of four sons; Al, Johnny, Joe, and Ben. She was a long time faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Forrest City. Mrs. Harris had been a member of the Forrest City Country Club, the Sew & Sew sewing club, the "H" supper Club, the W.M.U. Quilting Group, and the Junior Auxiliary. Her cooking was a specialty enjoyed by her family, whether at home or at their "cabin" on East Lake. She had worked at Planter's Bank & Trust and for many years had worked alongside Sonny in their business, Merchants Specialty Wholesale Grocery. Preceding Mrs. Harris in death were her parents, her husband, and a son, Ben Boren Harris. Survivors include a brother, Billy Causey, a sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Harris Mitchell, both of Forrest City, sons Aubrey Lee 'Al' Harris III, and wife, Nell, of Little Rock, John William Harris, and wife, Sue, of Forrest City, and Thomas Joe Harris, and wife, Becky, of Ft. Worth, Texas, six grandchildren; Aubrey Lee Harris IV, and wife, Andrea, of Little Rock, Gibson Brandon Harris of Little Rock, John William "Will" Harris Jr., and wife, Laura, of Memphis, Tennessee, Christie Marie Harris Mathes, and husband, Alex, of Forrest City, Mary Joni Harris Schaffer, and husband, Wayne, of Ft. Worth Texas, Marilyn Elizabeth Harris Patton, and husband, Patrick of Ft. Worth, Texas, four great-grandchildren; Lily, Ava, Maya, and Audrey, and many nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. Harris will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 2 p.m., Friday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home, 1 till 2 p.m., Friday, before the service. The family request memorials to be made to the First Baptist Church Mission Programs, 507 N.
