Altha Fuqua

Altha Rhea Stills Fuqua of Morrilton, Arkansas, age 97 died May 25, 2011 a St. Anthony's Hospital in Morrilton, Arkansas, surrounded by her family. She was born July 27, 1913 to Lewis Wilson and Armanda Martin Stills in Conway County, Arkansas. Altha married James Mancel Fuqua on April 11, 1931 in Conway County and they were blessed with four children. Altha retired from Crompton Cotton Mill after more than 35 years of service. In her "retirement years," she was a caregiver to several people in need. She loved her church and was a lifelong member of the Morrilton First Assembly of God Church. She was happiest spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed sharing stories with her grandchildren. It was always a treat to arrive at Nanny's and find their favorite food that she had prepared just for them. Altha was preceded in death by James Mancel Fuqua her husband of 64 years. Three sons: James Mancel Fuqua Jr., Billy Ray Fuqua and Robert Earl "Bobby" Fuqua, one son-in-law, Don Burge, four sisters, one brother and one great-grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Bettye Jo Burge, one brother, Charles R. Stills, one daughter-in-law, Doylene Scroggin Fuqua, eight grandchildren, Joyce Gilmore, David Fuqua, Donna Everhart, Pam Flagg, Terri Bertschy, Robin McDonald, Tracy Callahan and Tammy Glenn. She was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Morrilton, Arkansas. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 1 p.m. at the church immediately preceding the funeral service. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery in Morrilton. Pallbearers will be Shane Keith, Michael Wright, Tony Bertschy, Kevin McDonald, Dustin McDonald and Alan Ramsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Stills, David Fuqua and Danny Maillet. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morrilton First Assembly of God Church at, 1102 W. Clifton, Morrilton, Arkansas 72110.
