Edward Neil Chadwick

Edward Neil "Ned" Chadwick passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Clear Lake Hospital. He was born February 3, 1925 in Arkadelphia, Ark. to David Howard Chadwick and Edith Meador Chadwick. Mr. Chadwick served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. After graduating from Henderson State Teachers College (later called Henderson University) in Arkadelphia in 1947, he married Louise Parham, also a graduate of Henderson. They moved to Lake Village, Ark. where Mr. Chadwick began his teaching career. In 1953, they moved to La Marque where he continued his career in education in La Marque ISD and later earned a master's degree from the University of Houston. He also enjoyed running the football play clock for the LaMarque Tigers football games for many years. He retired after 37 years of teaching chemistry, physics, and math. Mr. Chadwick's integrity and compassion touched many lives; he was always willing to help. Mr. Chadwick was very active in his church for over 50 years. He was dearly loved by his family and will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cathryn Chadwick Yates. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 64 years, Louise Parham Chadwick; daughters, Christie Norman and husband Rusty, Melinda Miller and husband Craig, and Karen Thormalen and husband Claude; grandchildren, Melissa Collins and husband Chris, Hunter McBride, David Norman and wife Jessica, and Lauren Norman; great-grandchildren, Reece and Charlie Collins, and Mason Norman. In addition he is survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. Visitation is Saturday May 28 at James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Ave. in La Marque, 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. Funeral services are Sunday, May 29, 2 p.m., La Marque First United Methodist Church, 1825 Howell Ave., La Marque, with Pastor Sharon Sabom officiating. Pall bearers are Rusty Norman, Craig Miller, Claude Thormalen, Chris Collins, Hunter McBride and David Norman. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Temperence Hill Cemetery, Fordyce, Ark., with Rev. Mike Clayton officiating. The family suggests that memorials may be made in Mr. Chadwick's memory to the First United Methodist Church of La Marque, 1825 Howell Ave., La Marque, Texas 77568, or to a charity of your choice.
