Mr. Ben Harvey Holiman, age 86, of Benton, died Friday, May 27, 2011. He was born Sept. 28, 1924 in Sheridan. Ben was a loving father and grandfather who loved spending time with his "girls", sons-in-law, grandchildren and other family and friends. Ben loved to hunt, fish and garden. He never met a stranger. Ben and Jean operated the Yellow Cab Co. and Trailways Bus Station for 43 years. During that time they serviced the community and individuals many of who referred to him as "Mr. Ben". He retired from Spivey Chevrolet Co. in 1977. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Lee and Flossie Siggers Holiman; brothers, Lee, Charles and Leonard; sisters, Edna Holiman, Geneva Huey, Marie Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Jean Holiman; one sister, Mildred Moorehead Brown; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Dan Ivy, Benette and Jim Cook, Charlotte and Lee Smith, Mary and James Alexander and Ava and James McClintock; grandchildren, Reid Ivy, Jimmy and Katie Cook, Jetta and Jacob Perry, Casie and Chris Sculley, Crissy and Mike Smith, Ross Francis, Todd and Dani Hearn and Keaton McClintock and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pine Crest Cemetery. Minister will be James McClintock and Frank Thurman.
