John Phillip Criss Sr., 70, of Hot Springs, Ark., died Friday, May 27, 2011. He was born June 24, 1940 in Coffeeville, Miss., to the late Francis Wortham and Julia (McCrae) Criss. He was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church, and a retired Chief Financial Officer working with Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Ark., for 23 years and Arkansas Children's Hospital for five years. He retired to Hot Springs in 1998 and enjoyed the last 13 years playing tennis, boating, snow skiing, traveling and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Eaton) Criss. He is survived by his children, John Criss Jr. and his wife Beverly of Hot Springs, Lisa McDonald and her husband Todd of Little Rock, Stephen Tyler Criss of Hot Springs, and Lane Francis Criss of Hot Springs; three brothers, Francis Criss of Corinth, Miss., Robert Criss of Auburn, Ala., and Jim Criss Sr. of Grenada, Miss.; six grandchildren, Todd Alan McDonald, John Phillip Criss III, Katherine McDonald, Cathleen Criss, Ralph Criss, and Anna McDonald. Visitation will be Monday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hot Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Manley Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, Miss., under the direction of Garner-Harper Funeral Home, Grenada, Miss. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
