Virginia Ruth Nowell Hackworth

Virginia Ruth Nowell Hackworth, age 77, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Fielder Road Baptist Church. Interment at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery Tuesday, at 10 a.m. Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Virginia was born January 10, 1934, in Nashville, Ark., to Lloyd A. Nowell & Virginia Bridgeman Nowell. She graduated from Nashville High School in 1951, attended Baylor University, and graduated from University of Arkansas in 1955, B.S.E. in music education. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Alpha Iota, Collegiate Singers, and various musical groups. She taught Public School Music in Nashville, Ark. and Texarkana, Ark. She worked for the Rehabilitation of the Blind in Arkansas, and retired from Texas Commission for the Blind. She taught private piano lessons from 1959 to 2009. Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Don Hackworth. Survivors: Sons, Victor L. Nutt III and wife, Carol Nutt of Sherwood, Ark., and Stephen A. Nutt of Dallas, Texas; Grandchildren, Lee Nutt (Megan) of Jonesboro, Ark., Natalie Carroll (Ryan) of Little Rock, Ark., Melissa Van Scyoc (Cody) of Sherwood, Ark, and Christopher Nutt of Sherwood, Ark.
