Cloyce Fletcher

Cloyce Fletcher of Newport departed this life on Thursday, November 29, 2012, in Little Rock. He was born in Remmel, Arkansas, August 16, 1936, the son of Emel and Ruby (Christal)Fletcher. Cloyce was a 1954 graduate of Newport High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1954 to 1955. He married Miss Rita Jackson on July 4, 1958. The couple made their home in Newport where they raised their sons and enjoyed family and friends. Cloyce was a businessman and the owner and operator of Fletcher's Drive-In for 40 years. He was a member of Post 4683 V.F.W., the Newport Country Club, where he loved to play golf and enjoyed many card games. Cloyce's greatest love was his family and his special love and joy was his grandson, Conrad Jackson Fletcher. Cloyce Fletcher was a kind and generous man dearly loved by his family and many friends. He will be truly missed. Cloyce is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita (Jackson) Fletcher of the home; two sons, Robbie Fletcher and Russ Fletcher, and one grandson, Conrad Jackson Fletcher all of Sherwood; one brother, Bill Fletcher of Remmel and one sister, Patsy Fletcher of Newport; his mother in law, Audrey Simpson of Newport; several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Graveside Service following at 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Rev. Brad Elrod officiating. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jim Heatherly, Dean Sides, Mike Brown, Rodger Brand, Howard Lynn Felts, Bill Keedy, and Howard Bise. Honorary pallbearers are Jody Tapp, Dale Eaves, Jerry Saracini, Frank Plegge, and Tommy Montgomery.
