Wayne B. Stone Jr.

Wayne B. Stone Jr., 82, of Malvern, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. He was born in Harrisburg, Ark., Sept. 15, 1930 to Wayne B. Stone Sr. and Prudence Fitzgerald Stone. He is preceded in death by his parents. Wayne was a great inventor and a Patent and Trademark attorney for over 40 years. His early education was at numerous schools due to his father's service as a Navy doctor at the time. He graduated from Little Rock Central High School and then from Hendrix College. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carriers Ticonderoga and Bennington. Following his naval service he worked as a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent Office in Washington D.C. while obtaining his law degree from American University Law School. Subsequently he became a partner and ultimately the managing partner of one of the nation's top law firms specializing in patent and trademark causes. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Stone of Malvern; three daughters, Valerie Stone Picco of Cape Cod, Mass., Jenifer Stone Lynch of Alexander, Va., and Peggy Stone Holland of North Bethesda, MD; three grandchildren, Elena and Whitney Picco, and Nicholas Holland, and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Fitzgerald Stone (Mary) of Dallas, Texas; and nephew, Thomas Fitzgerald Stone II (Mary) of Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Gross Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs, Ark.
