RETIRED SGM ANDREW J "ANDY" JAWORSKI, 87, of Marche, North Little Rock, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. He was born Oct. 22, 1925. He was a lifetime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Men's Club, the Rosary Sodality, and a lifelong usher at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Andy served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a radio operator detached with the United States Marines. He saw action in Tinian, Saipan, Okinawa, and the Marshall, Gilbert and Mariana Islands. He retired as a certified occupational therapist assistant from Ft. Roots V.A. Hospital after 35 years. He also retired as a Sergeant Major from the Army National Guard after almost 40 years. During his tenure in the Guards, he received a number of awards and decorations including the Army Meritorious Service Award and the Army Commendation with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Jaworski; parents, Pauline and Peter Jaworski Sr.; two sisters Josephine and Eva (Pfiefer) and two brothers Peter and John Jaworski. He is survived by his ever loving wife of 65 plus years, Dominica (Bawiec) Jaworski; one daughter, Barbara Ann Houser and her husband, Jeff; and their son, his only grandchild, Gregory Houser; four sisters, Anna Zanoff, of Kokomo, Indiana, Marie (Bob) Kitchens of Charlotte, North Carolina, Regina Smith of McCrory and Joanna (Noal) Lawhon of Sherwood, and one brother Paul (Karen) Jaworski of North Little Rock and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Baptist Medical Center North Little Rock Rehab and extra thanks to Baptist Medical Center ICU and nurses for care beyond the call. Also, many thanks to Robinson Nursing Home Rehab and Intrepid Homecare. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Marche (NLR) officiated by Rev. Thomas J. Hart and assisted by Deacon Brunon Strozyk. Interment to follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Marche. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
